Chocolate day is one excuse to celebrate one of the most loved food items! Yes, chocolates! Out of all the days from valentine's week, I guess chocolate day is the most celebrated. Well, of course, who doesn’t like chocolates? The best part about this day is that you don’t necessarily have to have a partner on this day like on the other days of that week. You can make these delicious little pieces of treats for your family, friends, siblings and most importantly, yourself too! So, what are you waiting for? Follow this homemade chocolate recipe, and we promise you will be in for a treat!

Ingredients for making homemade chocolates:

  1. One cup of butter
  2. ½ cup cocoa powder
  3. ¼ cup powdered sugar (you can use more sugar if you are using unsweetened cocoa powder)
  4. Two tablespoons of milk powder
  5. One teaspoon of vanilla extract
  6. water

How to make homemade chocolates:

  1. Place a sieve over a bowl and add powdered sugar, cocoa powder and milk powder.
  2. Sieve all the dry ingredients well and make sure there are no lumps.
  3. You will need a smooth batter to make the chocolate, so ensure you sieve the dry ingredients well and discard any lumps.
  4. Once that is done, keep it aside.
  5. Now we will melt the butter using the double boiler method. So, you will need a saucepan half filled with water. 
  6. Put the pan on high flame and place another clean, dry bowl over it. Make the base of your bowl doesn’t touch the water.
  7. Add one cup of butter to the bowl and let it melt.

  1. Keep whisking until the butter melts completely.
  2. Once done, add all your sieved dry ingredients to the melted butter.
  3.  You can add it in batches to ensure there are no lumps formed.

  1. Whisk it well until you attain a smooth texture.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and take it off the heat.
  3. Stir it well.
  4. Now pour your chocolate mixture into the moulds and tap it once.
  5. Place it in the fridge for about 1 hour so that the chocolate sets.
  6. Once set, remove them from the moulds and indulge in the flavours of your homemade soft, buttery chocolates!

Variations you can do while making homemade chocolates:

  1. We made the chocolates plain and simple. You can add dried berries, peanut butter and nuts like almonds or cashews of your choice.
  2. You can also garnish your chocolates with some melted chocolate and choco chips. 
  3. White homemade chocolate recipe can also be made easily with some tweaking in the ingredients used here. 
  4. To add some more flavour, you can use cocoa butter, ghee or even coconut oil instead of regular butter.
