I read this beautiful quote somewhere and I couldn’t agree more – “teaching is a profession that creates all other professions”. Well, if my teacher in school didn’t teach me how to read and write, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I will always cherish the time I spent in school. Whether it was running in the corridors or rolling in the mud, school will always have a special place etched in my heart. Even if I think of these moments now, it brings a smile to my face.

Among all the things school life encompassed, teachers played an eminent role. They shaped and moulded us. While we may have shared a close bond with a few, there are some names that still send a chill down our spine. Whether your teachers at school were strict, enthusiastic, cool, scary or motivating, they ought to be celebrated.

This blog is an ode to all those students who adore their teachers.

This Teacher’s Day, take some time out to thank and appreciate your mentors. It doesn’t matter if you’re an alumnus, it’s never too late to surprise them with some pressies. It’s also a great excuse for you to visit your school after all these years and relive those childhood moments. Also, they’d be proud to see where you’ve reached in life.

Last-Minute Teacher’s Day Gifts

  • Succulent or live plant

This is one of my all-time favourite teacher appreciation ideas. Flowers are something everybody tends to give. While they do look pretty, they don’t last more than two or three days. The best way to ensure your teacher remembers you is by giving them a plant. Whether they choose to keep it on their desk at school or in their home, they will always be reminded of you each time they look at it. A small potted plant is ideal. Even a succulent is cute. You can go to a nursery near you and pick it up. You can even attach a thank you note.

  • Bake them cupcakes

Nothing says appreciation better than satisfying their sweet tooth. If you’ve baked before and are confident of a lip-smacking end product, go ahead and bake them a batch of cupcakes or cookies. You’ll find a whole lot of recipes online that are easy-peasy and perfect for beginners. All you have to do is collect a few ingredients and you’re good to go. The process is pretty satisfying too. When you give it to them, they will definitely be thrilled to know that you put in so much effort just for them.

  • Desk organiser

Teachers usually have a lot of things on their desk. Maybe you could help them clear up the clutter by giving them a desk organiser. It’s a super-thoughtful gift, and they can organise their school supplies in it. Be it pens, pencils, markers, bookmarks, scissors, a calculator or anything else, they can neatly place it in it.

You can check out this organiser available on Amazon.

  • Bookmarks

A bookmark is something every teacher loves. You can help them keep track of where they left off in their textbooks with these super cute bookmarks. Paper bookmarks are usually something they tend to lose. Since these bookmarks are made of plastic, they can carry it with them wherever they go and just place it in the book each time they’re interrupted by someone.

  • A gift card

Gift cards are the most practical last-minute Teacher’s Day gifts. When you can’t think of what to give, just buy a gift card from one of the leading brands or Amazon. If you don’t want to buy them a gift card from any clothing brand, you can even gift them a spa voucher or a salon gift card. Teachers spend most of their time standing in front of the blackboard. They too need a bit of pampering and indulgence. Therefore, you could buy them a voucher and they will definitely be happy to receive it.

  • Handmade card

A store-bought card is great but nothing beats the beauty and simplicity of a handmade card. When we were in school, we’ve all probably tried our hands at painting and colouring. Now is the time to put those skills to use. Grab some art supplies from a stationer and make the most thoughtful card. In the age of social media, they’ll definitely be touched by this kind gesture. If not for all your favourite teachers, you could particularly use this idea for your art teacher. Trust me, it will bring a huge smile on their face. Don’t forget to write a thoughtful message in the card to convey how special that teacher is to you.

  • Coffee mug warmer

Each time a teacher sits down with their daily cup of tea or any other warm beverage, they’re often interrupted by a colleague, student or staff member. In the quest of this, their hot beverage ends up getting cold and they drink it up without even complaining. This coffee mug warmer is a unique gift you can give them.

It’s portable and can be carried anywhere. No matter where they are, they can enjoy a piping hot cup of tea, coffee or any other beverage. Also, it comes in a neat box that makes it perfect for gifting.

Our teachers do so much for us, and they too should be appreciated and acknowledged for their efforts. How do you plan to make this Teacher’s Day special for your teachers? Let us know in the comments below.

Here’s a heartfelt thank you to all the teachers who spend their time and energy to educate every child. Happy Teacher’s Day.
