Choices and their respective consequences are majorly the constituents of a human being, so as for women. Each woman is special not only because she can endure the excruciating process of procreation or because she loses a certain amount of the fluid of life every month but also because she tends to make choices according to her own sweet will. Each woman is special because they differ from the other human being because she has decided upon certain decisions the other has not. A woman is given the gift of having an able hand at both domesticity and professionalism. And she thus has a choice of either choosing one or regulating both at her own free will. Choices make a woman content, beautiful, unique, and thus special.

Women are special in their entirety i.e. if women serving the country are special so are those serving in households if women in the charge of a company are special so are those in-charge the day-to-day life of her family, if women out in the public eye are special so are those working incessantly yet silently without any appreciation special. For, each woman has had her own individualistic journey of struggle and success which remains irrespective of their financial stability, social standards, religion, and as for that matter any other such discrimination. One necessarily does not have to look up to public figures for celebrating women though they i.e. their choices definitely remain a wider source of motivation and inspiration, looking around one’s surroundings can fetch them examples of successful, beautiful, bold, and special women.

Joya Kar

She is a mother of two daughters and holds a degree of Bachelor of Science. But unlike many, she chose to be a homemaker. Yet this remains true that in times of any need she could easily have availed her educational qualification. And indeed her knowledge was gracefully utilized in helping to educate both her children. For a very long time, she remained their tutor. Since she wasn’t forced into domestic help she was satisfied with her stature as a companion to her husband as well as a tutor, mother, and friend to her children. And in this very choice, she established her specialty and beauty.

Nilakshi Kar

Nilakshi is a chemical engineer by education and a social worker by profession. Though she had graduated with a pleasant score she decided on joining a globally acclaimed NGO. She exercised her adept ways with children in her work and has succeeded handsomely. One can never deny the fact that she has time and again been subjected to various criticisms due to her choice. But then it is this very choice that has led her to remain gay and devoted to her duties. Her choice of diversion and making use of her education on a different backdrop has been her specialty and thus she has not only been lauded often but also set a strong example for a lot of others.

Tania Sarkar (name changed for personal reasons)

She was a working lady married to a man with whom she was unable to attain any kind of mutuality and within a year of her marriage, she returned back home filing for a divorce. Her journey from the marriage to divorce was never an easy one. There were judgments, criticisms, lures, etc. as is common in any middle-class background. But she remained upright, determined, and strong on her choice of parting ways with him. She chose herself over family, friends, as well as society, and today she basks in the success of her decision. A single lady financing her own joys, own luxuries, own happiness, and enjoying her own company.

Lidia Ghosal Chatterjee

Her beginning was at the age of most people’s end. But when one has made a choice age remains just a number and no barrier. She is the mother of two daughters, and a perfectionist in her duty of taking care of the household. Driven at an age of more than fifty she began her own bakery baking scrumptious cakes and other confectioneries. Her undertaking has just been a year old and yet she has garnered appreciable fame and respect in the community for the hard work and creativity of her art. Her choice to be both a mother and a businesswoman has let her touch heights and fulfill a lot of her dreams. Today she stands, head held high, both as a homemaker and a professional patissier.

Santoshi Gayen

Working as a maid Santoshi is a single mother with a son. She had separated from her husband long back for obvious reasons and since then has been supporting her son as well as her mother financially. Like many others, she did not choose to stay back with her husband just for financial support but worked her way out through all odds to stand as a respectable individual. Her educated son has been employed and she remains a proud mother. She looks back not to her past or broods over her destiny but accepts fate and moves on happily, all smiling and laughing. This success, this glory remains a positive consequence of her choice making her special and superb.

If anyone looks around one can find such superwomen everywhere fighting their battles making life-changing choices and moving to become more powerful and special. It can definitely never be denied that everyone does not always get a choice to make a choice and the free will of choosing something over the other. Much has been done and much is still in process of at least giving a chance to a woman to choose and thus exercise her rights accordingly.

Choices and free will do have a negative face as well. For not only does one needs to remember that they are to face the consequences of their decisions but also need to realize the immense responsibility associated with it. Making choices of bearing violence or deciding on suicide or choice of exploitation or others as such proves harmful not to that person alone but also to the society. When one makes such choices they set a wrong example for the surrounding people which is not to be done. A woman needs to feel special in her own existence to thus be special in the eyes of others.
